Who am I? How do I practise?

As a Sikh integrative counsellor, I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine collaboration. I aim to offer a warm and compassionate space where you feel safe to explore your experiences, challenges, and hopes at your own pace.

I draw deep inspiration from the wisdom of Gurbani:

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸੁ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥

Prabhoo da-i-aa tay kamal bigaas.
Prabh suprasann basai man so-ay.

“By God’s Kind Mercy, the heart-lotus blossoms forth.
When God is totally pleased, He comes to dwell in the mind.”
(Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 270 - Sri Sukhmani Sahib, Raag Gauri, Ashtapadi 6, Pauri 8)

This beautiful imagery of the blossoming lotus guides my therapeutic work, inspiring me to help clients rise above challenges with resilience, clarity, and inner peace.

My practice is shaped by narrative, systemic, and existential approaches. In narrative therapy, I support you in looking at the stories you hold about yourself; stories that can sometimes feel limiting; and together we can discover new perspectives that open up possibilities for change. Systemic therapy helps us consider the patterns and relationships that influence your wellbeing, whether within families, communities, or the wider world. Existential therapy invites reflection on life’s deeper questions; such as meaning, freedom, and identity - helping you connect with what truly matters.

By weaving these approaches together, I aim to help you gain clarity and confidence, feel more grounded in yourself, and move towards living in a way that feels authentic and fulfilling. My role is to walk alongside you, offering curiosity, care, and support as you explore and shape the path that feels right for you.

Therapy at Anand Therapies is about finding what’s best for you but in an environment where one can truly feel like themselves.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing, or stuck, and it’s not always easy to make sense of things on our own. Counselling offers a space away from the demands of everyday life, where you can pause, reflect, and explore what’s happening for you in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.

Talking with a counsellor can help you gain clarity, recognise patterns, and better understand your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. It’s a process that can support healing from past experiences, provide tools for coping with present challenges, and open up possibilities for change in the future.

Counselling isn’t about being told what to do - it’s about working together to make sense of your experiences and to find ways forward that feel right for you.

Why should I choose counselling?

Anand is a Sanskrit word that translates to joy, bliss, or a sense of deep fulfilment. Within the context of therapy, I see Anand not simply as the pursuit of happiness, but as the possibility of living with greater authenticity, connection, and meaning.

Therapy is often a space where we encounter life’s most difficult questions and experiences. It is not about bypassing pain or uncertainty, but about creating the conditions in which growth, clarity, and transformation can emerge. In this sense, Anand reflects the deeper purpose of counselling - to move towards a life that feels more aligned with who you are, and more connected to what truly matters.

My practice is shaped by this understanding. By integrating narrative, systemic, and existential approaches, I aim to offer a space that goes beyond problem-solving, inviting clients to explore their stories, relationships, and values in ways that open the door to new possibilities. In doing so, therapy becomes not just a place of support, but a pathway towards cultivating your own sense of Anand ~ a way of being that feels whole, grounded, and uniquely yours.
